Impact Aid Information

Every year the North Kitsap School District (NKSD) must apply for Federal Impact Aid funds from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are to compensate NKSD for the loss of local tax dollars on tax-exempt federal property. Funds received from Federal Impact Aid are used for basic education programs district-wide, except for the special education portion that is used directly for that program.
To apply for these significant funds each year, the District must ask the parent or guardian of every NKSD student to fill out an Impact Aid Residence and Employment Survey form for each student. This will provide the District with a count of how many families lived or worked on federal property as of the survey date. It is important that the District have one form for every student whether or not their parent(s)/guardian(s) lives or works on federal property. For more information on this survey, please contact the District Records Department Supervisor at (360) 396-3588.
