We are seeking input from staff, families and community as we develop the 2017-18 district budget.  Unfortunately, we are facing a budget deficit that we estimate to be between $2.5 and $4.5 million.

These are uncertain and confusing times for schools in Washington State.  Our state legislators are currently working on the 2017-2019 state budget.  Across the state, school districts are facing uncertainty in the funding of education and the timing that the state budget to be approved.  Due to this uncertainty, we are planning to develop two budgets, best-case scenario and a worst-case scenario based on what we know.  Additionally, enrollment in our area continues to decline.  The final budget preparation here in North Kitsap will occur during the summer, once the legislative session and final state budget is complete.

In the survey, we ask you to rank goals of our strategic plan in order of importance for funding purposes.  Your feedback will assist in setting priorities for funding and budget reductions.  The survey will remain open until end of day Tuesday, March 7.

We will keep you updated on our progress as we navigate through this process.

Thank you for providing your feedback and thank you for supporting our schools.
