Welcome!  Full day kindergarten is free at all of our schools and is an important part of your child's success.  Below you will find links to the information you need to get your child registered and prepare for school!

Where do I enroll my child?

Most students attend their neighborhood school - the school closest to their home.  You will register your student at your neighborhood school - if you are unsure which school to register at, click here.

I know what school to register at, what's next?

Great!  You may either register online or pick up a registration packet at an elementary school starting March 6th.  All schools will accept registration paperwork from 9:45am-3:00pm daily.  Don't forget to bring a copy of your child's birth certificate with you!

WaKIDS - What is it and what should I know?

No one knows your child better than you.  You are an important member of the team that will support your child's learning and make the transition into kindergarten as smooth as possible.

We participate in a program specifically for Kindergarten called WaKIDS (Washington Kindergarten Inventory of Development Skills).  WaKIDS has three components.  The first component is the Family Connection, which provides an opportunity for families to meet with their child's kindergarten teacher at the beginning of the school year.  These meetings will take place during the first 3 days of school and will be non-student days for your child.

Teachers will be sending invitations in August to schedule these meetings.  To learn more about the program visit our WaKIDS page.

What else do I need to know?

If you are interested in your kindergartener learning a second language in our Spanish Dual Language Program, visit the program web page here for information.  Deadline for registration is Wednesday, March 22.  A lottery will be held on Friday, March 23 and parents will be notified by March 31.

Want to learn about our K-8 Options program, located at Gordon Elementary school?  Visit the Options Program page.

School hours and calendar information can be found here.  The first day of Kindergarten is Monday, September 11.

Bus routes are released in mid-August each year.  To learn about our transportation department, click here.

We look forward to welcoming you and your child to North Kitsap!
