High School Artists Take Over Regional Art Show

This is the image for the news article titled High School Artists Take Over Regional Art ShowArt students, and an engineering student, had a strong showing at the Olympic ESD Regional High School Art Show earlier this month.  Students from NKHS and KHS won 9 of the 12 awards at the show.  Of the 7 pieces that are moving on to the Superintendent's State High School Art Show, 6 are from our schools.  The regional show features pieces from throughout the Olympic ESD.

Congratulations to the following students:

Isabelle Henry earned a $2,000 scholarship from Central Washington University for her metal sculpture piece, "Beauty Growing from the Wreckage".  Her piece was the first ever in the art show by an engineering student.  The piece is moving on to the State Art Show.

Ryan Gilchrist earned a $2,000 scholarship from Central Washington University for his piece "Nostalgic Trio".  His piece is moving on to the State Art Show.

Rebecca Forschler earned a $2,000 scholarship from Central Washington University for her piece "Early Morning Commute".  Her piece is moving on to the State Art Show.

Zoe Ohling's piece "Luna" received the People's Choice award for receiving the most votes while on display.  She receives a $200 purchase award, and her piece will be professionally framed and added to the Olympic ESD's High School Art Gallery on permanent display.

Emma Hill's piece "Blue Sky", Gianni Nguyen's piece "Siren of the Deep", and James Molien's piece "The Pencil" will all be entered into the State Art Show.

Pieces moving on to the Superintendent's State-level High School Art Show will be on display at the Old Capitol Building in Olympia from April 3rd through June 1st.  The awards presentation will be on Friday, May 19.
