U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools Rankings are out and both Kingston High School and North Kitsap High School received silver medals!  Kingston High School is ranked #23 in Washington State, and North Kitsap High School is ranked #27.  According to U.S. News, rankings include data on more than 22,000 public schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia.  Schools are awarded gold, silver or bronze medals based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college. The rankings highlight schools that best serve all of their students, including disadvantaged populations. 

"It is critical that students graduate from high school to put them on a successful path to college and a career," said Anita Narayan, managing editor of Education at U.S. News. "We encourage parents to use the data included in the 2017 Best High Schools rankings to help make informed decisions about their children's education."

The results are in and we are pleased to announce that the Middle School Options Program at Gordon Elementary earned a Washington Achievement Award for Overall Excellence in the 2016 school year.  Middle School Options is part of the North Kitsap Options K-8 program.  This is the eighth year that the state has recognized outstanding achievement in Washington schools and the eighth year that North Kitsap schools have been honored.

Schools are recognized in the following categories:

  • Overall Excellence
  • High Progress
  • English Language Arts Growth
  • Math Growth
  • Extended Graduation Rate
  • English Language Acquisition
  • Closing the Achievement Gap

“I am proud to award nearly 300 schools with this honor,” said State Superintendent Chris Reykdal, “These schools help Washington lead the way in innovative education and access to high-quality learning opportunities. To all of those honored, thank you for your dedication to Washington students, families, and the future.”
