Register to Vote: Your Voice, Your Vote!

We all know that education shapes the future. But did you know that your voice has a say in how that future unfolds? Your votes on critical issues directly impact our schools. Therefore, it's vital that everyone who is eligible registers to vote.

Why Register?

Voting is one of the most important responsibilities of a citizen in a democracy. By voting, you have a say in who will lead our schools, district, state, and even country. You influence policy decisions on issues that matter to you, like education, climate change, healthcare, and much more.

Furthermore, voting in local elections is crucial. School board members, city councilors, and other local officials directly impact the policies in your local school district, including North Kitsap. Local elections also often have lower turnout, which means each vote carries even more weight!

Who Can Register?

In Washington State, you are eligible to register to vote if you:

  1. Are a U.S. citizen.
  2. Are a resident of Washington State.
  3. Will be at least 18 years old by the next election day.
  4. Are not currently serving a sentence for a felony conviction.
  5. Have not been disqualified from voting due to a court order.

How to Register

Registration in Washington State is easy, and you can do it online, by mail, or in person.

Online Registration

Online registration is available through the Washington State Secretary of State's website. You will need a current Washington State driver license or ID. If you don't have one, you can still register by mail or in person.

Mail-In Registration

To register by mail, you will need to complete the Washington State Voter Registration form. You can download the form from the Washington Secretary of State's website. After you fill out the form, mail it to your county elections department.

In-Person Registration

You can also register in person at any election office, Department of Licensing office, or many public libraries, colleges, and government offices. Call ahead to make sure they offer voter registration services.

Important Dates

Voter registration deadlines are important to keep in mind:

  • Online and mail-in registration must be completed 8 days before an election.
  • In-person registration can be done up to and including Election Day.

Remember, once you've registered, you don't need to register again unless you move or change your name.

Being an active, informed voter is a vital part of being a responsible citizen. Whether it's national elections or our local school board votes, your voice matters. Register to vote today and make sure your voice is heard!

At North Kitsap School District, we encourage all eligible community members to get involved, stay informed, and make a difference. Let's make our community's voice loud, clear, and inclusive in the democratic process!
