Options Program Application Timelines & Process 

 

APPLICATION PROCESS SEQUENCE OF EVENTS:

 

  • Enrollment applications will be available in the school office and on the district website during enrollment.
  • Complete the Enrollment Forms for each student you wish to have considered for enrollment. (Follow the directions for packet submission included with the packet).
  • Attend an information meeting at Gordon Elementary School.  These meetings will provide the most in-depth information. Attendance at an information meeting is required before a student’s application packet will be reviewed and considered for enrollment.
  • Complete applications packets are due to the Gordon school office.
  • Families are notified by letter of each student’s enrollment status (enrollment opportunity, wait list, etc.).
  • Parents of new students informally observe an Options classroom.  Call school office to schedule a day / time to observe.
  •  All visitors must sign in at the school office and get a visitor's badge.
  • The principal and Options teachers schedule individual meetings with new students and their parents.
  • LOTTERY: If completed applications exceed the number of places available, an impartial lottery is held to determine which students will be offered a place, and determine the order of the wait list.
  • WAIT LIST INFORMATION: Students who are not offered a place in Options are placed on a wait list.  Students will remain on the wait list for one year.  After one year, it is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to contact the Gordon school office before the application due date and update the application so that the student remains on the wait list.
  • WITHDRAWING FROM OPTIONS: Students who withdraw from Options would complete the regular application process if they later wish to re-enroll.
  • If your student is offered a seat in Options you will need to complete the:
  • North KitsapSchool District Enrollment Process: If your student is offered a place in Options for the 2017-18 school year, you must complete North Kitsap School District enrollment paperwork at the Gordon Elementary School Office. 
  • If your family chooses not to enroll in Options, please inform the office at Gordon Elementary so that we can offer the place to a student on the wait list.
  • School district enrollment paperwork must be submitted to the school office to confirm your student’s place in Options.
  • Any student for whom we have not received North Kitsap School District enrollment paperwork will be removed from the enrollment list and the next student on the wait list will be notified.
