Native American Heritage Month offers us the opportunity to celebrate Native/Indigenous people, history, culture, traditions and contributions to society.  It is also a time to raise awareness about the challenges and injustices Native/Indigenous people have faced, both historically and in the present.

Washington State is home to 29 federally recognized Native American tribes. NKSD resides within the ancestral lands of both the Port Gamble S'Klallam and Suquamish tribes and we are honored to have strong partnerships with them. On November 14, the North Kitsap School Board will recognize November as Native American Heritage Month by reading the Proclamation by Governor Inlsee.
