Superintendent Search Timeline
At the November 10, 2016 school board meeting, the board established the timeline for the superintendent search. The school board is committed to an open and transparent process with stakeholder input. The goal of the board is to recruit and hire the best superintendent for the North Kitsap community.
Community input was collected from the Focus Group Forums and surveys and reviewed to create a robust description of what North Kitsap desires in a superintendent. Additionally, community and staff input will be collected at the semi-finalist and finalist interviews and used to make selections.
March 23 Regular School Board Meeting
The board will make the final selection of superintendent in Action portion of meeting and finalize the contract.
Completed Timeline Tasks
December 1 Focus Group Forums
Forums were conducted by Northwest Leadership to collect staff, student, parent and community input.
December 8 -9 Focus Group Forums
Forums were conducted by Northwest Leadership to collect staff, student, parent and community input. Forums scheduled for December 9th were rescheduled for December 15th due to snow closures.
December 15 Special School Board Study Session – open to the public
Study session conducted by Northwest Leadership with the school board to review the results of the focus groups and survey, and define search criteria.
January 26 Regular School Board Meeting – open to the public
Northwest Leadership conducted a mid-search report where information was provided about the candidate pool. View the report.
February 16 Special School Board Session 5pm-8pm
The board convened in closed session with Northwest Leadership to review qualifications of the candidate pool based on criteria made with staff, student, parent and community input. The board will selected semi-finalists in closed session and announced semifinalists on Friday, February 17.
February 25 Special Meeting to Interview Semi-Finalists – open to the public
Semi-finalists interviewed. Feedback was solicited from staff and community about each semi-finalist. The board convened in closed session to deliberate about the candidates and review the input. Finalists were selected.
March 6,7,8 Finalists Visit
One finalist per day visited and have both staff and community presentations, where input was collected for the board. The board interviewed each candidate in a closed session. The board deliberated on qualifications and reviewed the collected staff and community feedback. Visit the Finalist Candidates Visits page for candidate information and schedule.
If needed, the board will conduct site visits of the finalist’s school districts.
